Headlines trumpet that the YES Network’s ratings for the Yankees are up by 50% over last season. Their numbers surpass the Mets on SNY.
On the field, there is no comparison. After last night’s shelling of David Price and the Bosox, the Yanks are 4-1 against their division rivals, who were picked to win by most after obtaining Chris Sale.
And the Yanks have done this with little production from their corner infielders. Their closer has been gone for a considerable period and their ace has been lit up more often than not. Sanchez and Didi were out a month.
They have struggled a bit of late, but other than the Houston series, they have met every challenge. Astros-Yanks in the ALCS? Much can happen before October — trades, injuries, minor league call-ups who excel. But the train is rolling in the Bronx. And Queens can only look wistfully at what might have been. 6/9/17
