Reports are that the Nationals  are interested in Curtis Granderson, but the Mets don’t want to help their division rivals. If this is true, they are being shortsighted and dumb. First off, you have to love Grandy. Great guy, charity, leader, etc. The chance for post season play again would be a nice cherry to top off a fine career. But the Mets have made it clear that they are not going to re-sign him anyway. Save the dollars to spend next year and get a piece (although probably not a good one) in return. Help the Nats? Seriously? Does it matter if the Mets finish 20 or 22 games back? It would be different if Grandy was 26 and under control for 2 more years. If the Mets change their mind and really want him back as a fifth outfielder, sign him as a Free Agent. Get the best return you can now and move on.
