Todd Frazier may not be the greatest third baseman in baseball. He strikes out a lot, hits for a low batting average. Walks frequently, (at least last season) and is good defensively.
We heard about his clubhouse presence and some pooh poohed it, suggesting the manager is the leader that the players need to follow.
But today we learn that Cespedes and Frazier have bonded and Ces is inspired by Frazier’s energy and work ethic. If Frazier never plays another minute, that is golden. Keeping the slugger motivated and sharp will go a long way toward the Mets succcess.
Cespedes has been feeling ill lately but insisted on playing last night. He made a great throw from left center to nail a runner at second. He knocked in the gamer the night before. Good early signs for the Metsies.
