I had many great conversations with the late Robert B. Parker. If I had to pick one author who influenced me the most, it would be Parker. His characters were true to a non conventional moral code, achieving true justice for others, no matter the cost to themselves. Parker could make you feel Boston, whether you had ever been there or not. Although Jesse Stone, Sonny Randall and his Western characters were pretty much Spenser in different clothes and locales, they all were true to the greater good. After a little chat about his Red Sox and Patriots, we talked about writing, the future of publishing and his Appaloosa book that Ed Harris made into a fine film.
