The New York Times, echoed by Sports Illustrated has a compelling reason why ticket sales have lagged at Yankee Stadium.

Duh! Ticket prices!

It costs $40 to park, which apparently is not controlled by the team. So if you live in New Jersey, $15 to cross the GW, plus gas and parking sets you back at least $60 before you enter the gate.

A business has to plan a marketing strategy and decide who it wants to sell its product to. Mercedes doesn’t target people making twenty grand a year. Baseball used to be the sport that the common man could afford. Some years ago, a few teams decided that it could be the sport of kings. Keep the riff-raff out and cater to the affluent. Have they gone too far?
